Welcome to Green Media Environments, an active and ongoing programme for research projects and research-led industry engagement that furthers the understanding and attainment of environmental and social justice goals in the discourses, practices and policies of the journalism, media and creative industries.
The programme, based at the Centre for Research in Media and Cultural Studies at the University of Sunderland, will run a number of projects over time that study the dynamics of cultural production involved in the journalism, media and creative industries, in traditional and digital formats, and that examine the vital role played by the media in holding decision-makers to account.
The programme aims to maximize the impact of the research in attaining societal and quality of life impacts, by focusing from the beginning on how theoretically-informed research can be directed to help shape the implementation and development of environmentally sustainable principles, practices and structures within the journalism, media and creative industries.
